The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for all employees, contractors, and visitors to BMC, ensuring a professional, secure, and welcoming environment. This role combines front-of-house responsibilities with critical access control and safety duties in a large manufacturing setting.


Responsibilities

Front Desk & Customer Experience

  • Provide a warm, friendly, and professional welcome to all employees, contractors, and visitors.

  • Deliver a consistent, positive, and helpful BMC greeting to all callers and in-person enquiries.

  • Ensure every visitor’s experience at BMC is positive, efficient, and enjoyable.

  • Direct interview candidates to the appropriate department in a timely manner.

  • Manage incoming calls, emails, and general enquiries, ensuring prompt and accurate responses.

Visitor & Contractor Management

  • Meet and greet all visitors and contractors, ensuring proper sign-in procedures are followed.

  • Notify and connect visitors and contractors with their designated host.

  • Issue visitor badges and always ensure compliance with company policies.

  • Maintain accurate visitor logs and records in line with company and security requirements.

Access Control & Security

  • Manage access control systems, ensuring all personnel use access cards appropriately.

  • Monitor entry and exit points to ensure compliance with site security procedures.

  • Prevent and address tailgating (unauthorised entry by following others).

  • Ensure proper egress procedures are maintained and exits remain unobstructed.

  • Escalate any security concerns or breaches to the appropriate personnel.

Badging Administration

  • Administer the badging process for all new employees, contractors, and visitors.

  • Create, issue, and deactivate access cards in accordance with company policies.

  • Maintain accurate records of badge issuance and access levels.

  • Coordinate with People and Culture and Facilities to ensure timely onboarding and offboarding processes.

Health, Safety & Emergency Response

  • Act as a member of the Fire Warden team.

  • Assist in coordinating and executing fire drills and emergency evacuations.

  • Ensure visitors and contractors are aware of emergency procedures.

  • Support health and safety compliance across reception and common areas.

Collaboration & Standards

  • Work closely with the Facilities team to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient reception area.

  • Collaborate with other company receptionists to ensure consistency and high service standards.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of reception processes and visitor management systems.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a receptionist, front desk, or customer-facing role

  • Experience in a manufacturing or corporate environment (advantageous)

  • Familiarity with security procedures or access control systems (preferred)

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality

  • Flexibility to support site operations and emergency procedures when required
